Plot My Garden ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website plot-my-garden.co.uk. This page explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our garden planning tool.
Information we collect
Our garden planner runs entirely in your web browser. The plot layouts, plant selections, and planting schedules you create are stored locally on your device using browser local storage and are not sent to our servers.
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the planner.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics on this site to count visits and see which pages are read. It only runs if you agree to measurement cookies, and nothing is recorded until you answer.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential functionality: Saving your garden plots, plant placements, and settings using browser local storage so your work is preserved between visits.
- Advertising: Google AdSense may use cookies to serve personalised advertisements (see below).
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality, including the ability to save your garden plans.
Advertising
We display advertisements through Google AdSense to support the free operation of this site. Google AdSense may:
- Use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites
- Collect data about your interactions with advertisements
- Allow third-party vendors to serve ads using cookies
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information handled by our website. Since your garden plans are stored locally on your device, they are protected by your own device's security measures. Our website is served over HTTPS to ensure secure communication.
Your Rights (UK GDPR)
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
Since we do not collect personal data directly, most of these rights relate to data collected by Google AdSense. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on exercising your rights regarding their data collection.
Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
External Links
Our site may contain links to external websites (such as seed suppliers or gardening resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your cookie choices
Measurement cookies, which count visits so we can see which pages are worth keeping, are only set if you agree to them. When you first visit you are asked, and nothing is stored until you answer. Declining is a single click on the same footing as accepting.
Advertising cookies are a separate question, asked separately by Google's own certified notice rather than by us. Google is the advertising partner, the cookies are set by Google, and only its notice is certified to record that choice and pass it on, so we do not ask on its behalf.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings button in the footer of any page. Your measurement choice is kept in your browser's own local storage, on your device: it is never sent to us and is not used to identify you.
Cookies already set by an earlier choice can be cleared through your browser settings.
